Frequently asked questions

The questions people ask before handing us their mail — and our straight answers.

Where is my data hosted?

In Switzerland, on our own servers, in a Swiss data centre, run by our engineers. Messages, calendars, contacts, backups and technical logs never leave the country. The details are on the Data sovereignty page.

How is this different from Microsoft 365?

We run the same software, Microsoft Exchange Server, but installed on our premises under licence. Microsoft does not host your data, cannot access it and does not run the servers that hold it. With Microsoft 365, your mailboxes live in Microsoft's data centres, under the control of a US company, whichever region you choose.

Does the US CLOUD Act apply to my mail?

No. Mail Exchange is a service of Pexys Sàrl, a Geneva company, and no US provider is involved anywhere in the chain: not for hosting, storage, backup or administration. A foreign authority has to go through international legal assistance, which means a decision by a Swiss authority.

Is it suitable for professions bound by confidentiality?

That is where sovereignty matters most: lawyers, doctors, fiduciaries, notaries. Your data falls under Swiss law alone (nFADP). The Litigation hold option keeps messages recoverable even after the user deletes them.

Is there a minimum term?

No. You can cancel at the end of the current month, and a change of plan is prorated on the next invoice. Prices are on the Plans and pricing page.

Can I keep my domain name?

Yes. You can transfer it to us with your order, or leave it with your current registrar and add our DNS records there — the values are in Point your MX records.

How do I migrate from Gmail, Microsoft 365 or another provider?

The new mailboxes are opened before the switch, and the old service stays active afterwards while everything is copied, so nothing is lost. From an Exchange or Microsoft 365 mailbox, a .pst file carries over mail, calendar and contacts; from Gmail or IMAP, Outlook or Thunderbird is enough. Step by step: Migrate from Gmail, IMAP or an older Exchange. For a large estate, write to us before you start.

Do Outlook and phones work?

Yes. Outlook for Windows and macOS sets itself up through autodiscover; the “new Outlook” for Windows cannot yet connect to a hosted Exchange, so use classic Outlook. iPhone and Android sync mail, calendar and contacts over ActiveSync. Webmail opens from any browser.

Is my mail backed up?

With the Exchange plan, a backup is taken every day and kept for 21 days, in Switzerland, on our premises. Users recover deleted items themselves for 14 days; beyond that, our support restores from the backup.

How are spam and viruses filtered?

By ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server, running on our servers. Every message is scanned on receipt and on sending, before it reaches the mailbox. Included with every plan, nothing to install.

What availability is guaranteed?

A 99.9 % contractual SLA. Three receiving servers sit behind each name: losing one does not stop mail delivery.

Is support included?

Yes, with every plan, by phone, e-mail and helpdesk. It is provided by the people who run the platform: when you call, you speak to someone who can open a console.

I manage mail for my clients: can I resell the service?

Yes, through the reseller programme: a discount based on the size of your estate, a single invoice, self-service mailbox creation, and no imposed resale price or mention of our name.
