Before you start
Outlook finds the server by itself from your address, provided the autodiscover record exists in your domain's DNS zone — see Point your MX records. If we manage your domain, it is already there.
You need the mailbox address and its password.
Outlook for Windows
- File → Add account.
- Enter the full mailbox address, then Connect.
- Enter the password. If Outlook asks for the account type, choose Exchange.
- Done, then restart Outlook.
The “new Outlook” for Windows does not, to date, connect to a hosted Exchange server such as ours. Use classic Outlook — the one that ships with Microsoft 365 or Office.
Outlook for macOS
- Outlook → Settings → Accounts, then + → New account.
- Enter the full mailbox address, then Continue.
- Enter the password. Leave the server empty: Outlook finds it.
If setup fails
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Outlook asks for the server | Autodiscover found nothing. Enter mail.mail-exchange.ch, and the full address as user name. |
| A certificate warning names another host | The autodiscover record still points to your previous provider. |
| The password is asked again and again | The password is wrong, or the mailbox is suspended for an unpaid invoice. Check in the webmail first. |
First reflex in every case: open the mailbox in the webmail,
https://mail.mail-exchange.ch/owa. If it opens there, the mailbox is fine and it is the
Outlook setup that needs another go.
