Newsletters filed in Junk Email

The filter tags them [Newsletter] and files them apart. The ones you read come back in one step, for good.

What changed

Since early October 2026, the mail platform recognises newsletters — mailing lists, promotions, bulk announcements — and handles them like this:

  • the subject gets the prefix [Newsletter];
  • the message is filed in the Junk Email folder instead of the Inbox.

The aim is to cut down the volume of advertising that lands in your mailboxes every day. Nothing is deleted: the newsletters are in Junk Email, recognisable by their prefix, and can be read there like anywhere else.

Bring back a newsletter you read

Just mark its sender as safe. This is done once per sender, it overrides the filter, and that sender's next messages land straight in the Inbox.

The safe senders list belongs to your mailbox, not to the device: set from Outlook or from the webmail, it applies everywhere — computer, phone, tablet.

In Outlook for Windows

  1. Open the Junk Email folder.
  2. Right-click the message, then Junk → Never Block Sender.
  3. The message moves back to the Inbox; the next ones will arrive there by themselves.

If the same sender writes from several addresses of one domain, choose Never Block Sender's Domain instead.

In the webmail

The webmail is the path that works from any device, phones included.

  1. Open https://mail.mail-exchange.ch/owa and sign in.
  2. Click the gear icon at the top right, then Options.
  3. Under Mail, open Block or allow (depending on the version: Junk email).
  4. Under Safe senders and recipients, type the sender's address, then click + and Save.

You can also, from the Junk Email folder of the webmail, right-click the message and choose Mark as not junk: it moves back to the Inbox and the webmail offers to mark the sender as safe.

In Outlook for Mac, on iPhone or Android

Not all of these apps offer the safe senders list. Use the webmail, as above: the setting is stored in the mailbox and applies to them too.

Newsletters you no longer want

For a newsletter you do not read, the most effective step is the Unsubscribe link it contains, usually at the very bottom. The filter takes care of the ones that keep coming.

If an important message landed in Junk Email

The filter targets bulk mail. If an expected message — a supplier, a customer, a confirmation — was filed by mistake, mark its sender as safe the same way: it is the same setting, and it is permanent. Keep the habit of glancing at the Junk Email folder from time to time, as before.
